Asteroids in Astrology

This is going to be a shortened version of a few Asteroid descriptions!
They are in no particular order [not even alphabetical, sorry] and belong to no particular category. There are a mix of positive and negative Asteroids.
Do with this information what you will. They will only give you an idea of how the Asteroids manifest in a chart. In a couple of weeks, I will be doing a special post about Asteroid Mythology, and where/how they get their names & energy from. Hopefully, that will give everyone a better understanding of how to navigate Asteroids in your own charts.
For now, here are the shortened versions.

I have listed the names and numbers of each Asteroid. This will make it easier for you to locate them in your chart.



You may have seen posts online that will tell you that Asteroids do not manifest in a chart unless properly aspected, or aspected in transit. This is true. However, they are still worth taking into account. It is amazing how much depth is to be found in a chart using Asteroids, and everyone should consider them. I mention several specific aspects when describing Asteroid energy BUT this does not mean that each Asteroid will only manifest in the aspects mentioned. Their Sign and House placement alone can still tell you a great deal about your chart.

Makhaon [3063]

This asteroid is used when looking for types of surgery. It can be used in transits. If located in the 6th house, it could indicate prone to surgeries. If conjunct the North Node [especially in the 8th house] in transit or in natal, could be a life-changing surgery.

Asclepius [4581]

Asclepius is the Greek god of medicine. His name is correlated to “cut open”. He was also raised by Chiron [The Wounded Healer] When referencing him in a chart, he relates to doctors, nurses and healers. He would be considered a prominent placement in the Natal Chart if conjunct the North Node, the Sun, or any personal planets. Also if located in the 10th house. He can be used in different ways when referencing a transit chart.

Pythia [432]

Pythia is an Asteroid considered to represent psychic or clairvoyant abilities. To consider this a prominent placement, it would have to be conjunct a personal planet, the Ascendant, or the Midheaven.

Unitas [306]

Unitas represents the area of our life where we come together with others. This Asteroid represents very special bonds like between a parent & child or otherwise a very bonding relationship. You would be able to locate this Asteroid in conjunction with personal planets of a loved one’s chart by creating a biwheel or synastry chart. You can also use it in your personal chart to see where you’re most likely to connect with others.

Mathias [454]

Mathias represents your thirst for knowledge. If he is conjunct the Sun or the Ascendant, this can make for a rather studious person. In a natal chart, he can show you where your desire for learning or which areas of knowledge you hold power with. Sometimes, when negatively aspected, can represent areas of distraction from learning. If he were conjunct Pluto or Chiron, maybe you had troubles in school. If in the 9th house, this could mean in your higher education rather than grade school.

Nessus [7066]

Nessus represents abuse, sadism, and narcissism among other things. When he is conjunct a malefic or personal planets, he can sometimes appear as a sexually or physically abusive person. In aspects to Saturn, he can manifest as someone who abuses power or dominates others through power struggles & games.

Sado [118230]

This Asteroids energy is perceived as someone who is sadistic. They could like to inflict pain on others or receive pleasure from pain. This can spread to any variety of subjects. Meaning, the person could also be mentally abused or choose to stay in toxic environments because they subconsciously like it. When prominently placed this person can be very manipulative or someone who likes to seek revenge.

Dejanira [157]

Dejanira is depicted as the victim Asteroid. She represents toxic submission, guilt, and being subjected to harmful situations. This placement is another that is related to seeking pleasure through pain. They could feel like a magnet to dramatics and confuse the two for love. When negatively aspected, can be a victim of sexual or physical abuse.

Achilles [588]

Wherever Achilles is located in your chart, is said to be one of the more dramatic/traumatic areas of your life. This is a key Asteroid to look for when analyzing your deeper wounds. When placed in the 4th house can represent childhood trauma. When placed in the 2nd house, watch out for transits and correlations to periods of struggle or lessons related to money. If located near the Sun, it can represent a weak-minded individual or someone who always feels victimized.

Karma [3811]

The name speaks for itself. Where ever this Asteroid is placed in your chart is where your luck falls. This can be tricky, because the way Karma is aspected can determine whether this will be good luck or bad luck. When positive planets like Jupiter are transiting Karma, you may experience a good string of fortunate events. If Karma is conjunct Pluto in the natal, you may experience what seems like fated bad luck in relation to the house and sign they are placed in.

Child [4580]

This is the Asteroid of your childhood. The house it is located in can tell you a lot about your inner child and what they experienced or what they needed. In synastry or transit charts, you can look to this Asteroid to determine who/what brings out your inner child. In negative transits, you may be forced to deal with the emotions or situations from your childhood. This placement can be completely positive, or negative. Just like each of us, our inner child is unique to the native. If you had a rough childhood, this Asteroid may be negative aspected. Also important to note, if negatively aspected in a synastry chart, this can represent a relationship with someone who mirrors the behavior of someone who neglected you in your childhood.

Lie [26955]

Another Asteroid where the name speaks for itself. If aspected by Mars, the Sun, or the Ascendant can make for a compulsive or articulate liar. If conjunct Mercury, this would make for an excellent liar or smooth talker. They could have a strong way with their words. Or, on the contrary, they don’t care how bad their lies sound they’ll just say them anyway. Placed in the 12th house can be a tricky placement as it might make for someone who lies to themselves.

Astraea [5]

If properly placed in an aspect with Venus or the Ascendant, this Asteroid indicates someone who stays in relationships or bad situations long after they logically should have. She represents a persistent person, but specifically in the areas of relationships and close friends.

Melpomene [18]

She represents grief, loss, and mourning. You can find out specifically which kind of grief she represents by seeing which Asteroids she is surrounded by. Just like the other Asteroids, her energy is more potent when working with other astrological points. If she is in conjunct with one of the love Asteroids, it can represent the loss of a lover. If Uranus is transiting, it can mean the loss of extremely important documents that cannot be retrieved or something like the loss of a cell phone with no information backed up.

Swindle [8690]

Swindle is considered a negative Asteroid. As he represents lies, cheating, stealing and other morally corrupt situations. When located in the 8th house it can manifest as someone who is quite literally, a thief. When aspected to the Ascendant it can get tricky to see if the person is perceived as a liar, or if they absolutely are one.

Beer [1896]

I’m mentioning this Asteroid for anyone who has an alcoholic in their life. You can find an alcoholic if this Asteroid is conjunct with any personal planets. You can also use your own chart as a road map to locate an alcoholic in your family. If you have their chart, you could also check your synastry to see how this might have affected you.

Sisyphus [1866]

This is where you would find repeated cycles in your chart. When slow-moving planets transit Sisyphus, you may experience the same type of situation over and over again until you understand the lesson. Pluto [aspected in the natal, or in transit] can make this placement a rather harsh one, and in some cases even a drug addict who is stuck in their ways. It is not always this extreme though, it could also manifest simply as someone with overactive spending habits, or otherwise something they just can’t shake or learn from.

Bellerophon [1808]

Bellerophon is said to correlate to the word “crippling”. This can mean literally, being disabled or crippled. [Reference surgery Asteroid Makhaon] or fatal accidents.

Toro [1685]

Toro represents strength, aggression, and power. In synastry, if aspected by Venus, it can indicate an abusive or otherwise intense relationship. When a beneficial planet transits this placement, it can manifest as aggression and drive towards goals. It is important to reference the aspects to this Asteroid to see how the driven energy will manifest.

Lysistrata [897]

Lysistrata is said to have driven a widespread agreement to abstinence until the wars were stopped. In a Natal Chart, she can represent someone with sexual power. This can be positive. However, if negatively aspected, it can represent someone who uses sex in a negative way to manipulate others in order to gain power over them.

Sphinx [896]

The Sphinx is where the secrets lie. All things mysterious and hidden can be somewhat revealed in the Natal Chart. Using the Sphinx, you can see where you may tend to keep things to yourself. If conjunct the Ascendant, this person would love to keep their whole life a secret, and in turn strongly intrigue those around them.

Echo [80]

If you happen to find this Asteroid in a chart and it is gracefully placed, it can make for a beautiful singer, someone with a voice of reason, or someone who is very poetic.

Photographica [443]

When Photographica is conjunct a personal planet, it can manifest as someone who is keen to photography or maybe even someone who pursues a career involving images.

Thalia [23]

This is considered to be one of the comedic Asteroids. When in aspect to the Sun or the Ascendant, these people will usually be the class clown or the comedian of the friend group.
